Beginner questions: is it better to finish an idea with less than ideal sound design/selection, then go back and fix it all up after it's laid out, or do you make sure things sound at least somewhat good before moving on? I got stuck on a short loop trying to get things to fit in and around it and realised I probably could just move on and get more progress that way even if it sounds shit (muddy low ends, stuff clashing a little etc.), rather than bogging myself down in the details that early. Also, is that when it's best to even consider compression, when the full idea is there and you have a clue about when/why you want/need to use it?
