Mega Gengar looks scary

Gengar looks like a cool goofy ghost, which is fine, but mega Gengar looks like a malevolent shadow monster emerging from the abyss. It's shit-eating grin makes it abundantly clear that it's after your soul like how the base version was portrayed in the dex. Having shadow tag adds to this both thematically and in its gameplay. The third, all-seeing eye, presumably the source of its terrifying ability, immediately tells you there is no escaping this ghastly ghoul. You see mega Gengar and your face turns white as you are instantly overwhelmed by feelings of pure, unadulterated dread. It is the very last thing you ever want to see in a blind singles battle.
