I think everyone knows about that, my only hope is that the outdated battles don't get forgotten just for being "non-canon," stuff like The Upper Hand is still worth playing even if its assumptions about the story seemed wildly off even before 3&4 released (the way Gaster became an open antagonist that the party characters talk about directly). As long as people can accept these fan creations as products of their time there's nothing wrong with it
