Poor bastard is torturing himself. I've seen this exact thing play out with a college friend. He was a voluntarily putting himself in conversion therapy (legal at the time) to "fight his homosexual urges."

Literally eight years later and he's still fighting that fight, now with more health problems and unearthed trauma. The really, really really sad part about all this is that the solution is right in front of these people but they're so convinced they have to be one way or another that they'd rather live a short, intensely unpleasant life, than a long gay one (lol)
