>It has different biomes, yes, but it has an ambience of its own
It doesn't have different biomes. It has different locations connected with spit and prayers
>The story is completely told ingame, a rare thing in FromSoft games
The absolute dogwater trash story and whoever wrote it being unable to convey with subtlety and exploration narrative elements go hand in hand.
Dark Souls 2 story is awful, absolute trash. Drangleic has no story before Vendrick, who kills the 4 Great Ones and creates his kingdom except those are somehow still alive and on top of that they have 2 souls each. That alone tells how generic and poor the writing has got.s
The player is completely detatched and his involvement with this joke of a "plot" which literally consists of a static setting where the singular guy goes like a murderhobo, whereas real Souls games have deeper conspiracies and prophecies involving Covenats and factions, and acknowledge many players co-exist in the same world. This is why they have to dedicate the intro, which used to be epic introductions to the actual setting and events that led to the game, to make up some fictional family for the player to pretend to care.
If you like Dark Souls 2 "story" you are a legitimate retard.
