That's the problem which invites the denial crowd. Almost every academic if you sat them down would admit the numbers are overstated, but it is one of the most taboo subjects that no one wants to touch and get shit on them unless they are an actual neo nazi who is already covered in shit with nothing to lose. It's frustrating. It self-feeds both sides in becoming more militant over their positions and doubling down which then leads to both ends of the spectrum to formulate completely incorrect assesments. It's one of those things which I think animation or comics needs to cover due to how tainted all other forms of media are with regards to the topic. Countless people died and villages wiped off the face of the earth systematically, that alone should be enough but it isn't sadly.
