I don't understand how everybody hems and haws about how to respond to Nietzsche when simple Christians have always had the right answer: the empty tomb. This is the response to Nietzsche, and frankly the response to Thiel, too. Nietzsche simply proclaims himself an atheist and does not believe in the Risen Christ, because if the Risen Christ is real then everything Nietzsche things about the world is wrong.

This is why the thinker who most properly responds to Nietzsche in the 20th Century isn't Derrida or Foucault or even Girard, it's Ratzinger, the pious Catholic who was also a genius.
