I haven't done Matsuri's romance, but I can't possibly believe she's more dorky than Kanata.

Kanata's romance is about her and Rin working desperately to make her the ideal girlfriend for you, because Kanata's completely in love, Rin wants both of you to be happy, and they're both kind'a sure that you could have anyone you wanted so they're worried you'll break up with her. The God of Light and the Heavens is a nervous wreck that you're gonna dump her if she's a bad date lmao. They stay up too late planning out your second date that they somehow wind up agreeing that Kanata should just go ahead and put out.

I saw someone say in the previous thread that GoA has a much bigger focus on the romance and characters than the previous games.

How true is that, exactly?

I've been playing GoA and the character scenes, events, interactions, stories and dates have been some of my favourite parts of the game. When I finished I was thinking I'd try RF4S since I've heard such good things about his love Dolce but it'll be a shame if the characters and events are significantly smaller scale than in GoA.
