nick was vibing with harland when sam did that, why did sam do that?

sam was really uncomfortable and in his own head, he was second guessing everything that harland was doing.

when harland started talking to nick, sam stopped paying attention and used that as a temperary repreive or rest to get his bearings and try and game plan what to do next, while he was zoned out and not paying attention to nick talking, he noticed his shirt has a loose thread on it that was bothering him (because he was overthinking and stressed out)

so he inturrupted nick, his own guy, to ask for scissors, so harland highlights this rudeness, by totally switching focus to what ever sam is trying to talk about.

notice that, harland doesn't bring focus back to sam once harland knows sam wants scissors, sam burps into the microphone rudely, inturrupting nick, then harland brings the focvus to sam, to highlight how rude he is, then sam talks about wanting scissors, then harland says "sure, what for?" almost like he's kind of nervous already around sam, like on some unconciouslevel he's worried sam will do some shenanigans like destroy property with the scissors (so paranoid! who would think such a thing!) and sam ignores harland on his own podcast, doesn't answer the question, and screams at harlands own assistant for scissors, almost like a power struggle display, which is probably what it was atleast unconciosuly.

then sam cuts the thread, showcasing his fragile mental state. that all it would take to unravel him is to pull a loose thread.
