F-5 is better than the mirage overall, but what the Mirage has is the two most free kills per game you could get in war thunder.
And also you need to take in consideration the matchmaker. By playing a F-5A (Or for worse, the F-5C in the US tree) at 10.7, you are ALWAYS meeting F-5E that's at 11.0. And the F-5E is better than you in anything.
