At least in WEIRD countries, most marriages tend to be homogamous. While both men and women would like to marry 'up' in one way or another, most of the time they end up with someone who is similar to them. The supply of super models and 6'5" finance guys is limited, and at the end of the day, people tend to get along best with those they spend most time with, share interests with, etc.
