The surge and Lords of the Fallen are slow(and quite shit too), but Soulslike doesn't mean slow. Dark Souls isn't slow, and Soulslike games by Fromsoft haven't ever been slow either. "Methodical" just means the combat uses fundamentals. Methodical is just a meaningless buzzword that can mean anything these days; there's nothing methodical about Souls. Anyway, it's undeniable that Sekiro itself iterated on the Souls formula even if it stripped out most of the RPG elements, so being based on Sekiro means it naturally has similarity with Souls. Also, a lot of games have already tried combining Sekiro, Bloodborne, and Dark Souls together, like Lies of P but they still fall under the umbrella of soulslike
