I already beat it via my review friend's copy. It's alright but really overstays its welcome. All the armor is pretty much like Elden Ring's in the sense that it's all cosmetic, because the stats barely matter on them. So I just let her dress like a slut the entire time. A portion of the game just pulls a DLC where you retread the same area, but it's on fire now. Then you go to "Hell" and just a bunch of vertical areas with nothing interesting to explore. But yes, you feel like you're at the ending and then they're like "nah we gotta go to Hell." At least its only like an hour or two in that area depending on your exploration autism. longsword, axe, dual blades, spear, single sword. There is magic, but you only get "ammo" to cast magic from dodging attacks or feather attacks, i think that's what theyre called. There aren't any classes. You can use two weapons and swap between them, there's a dedicated button to attack swap, meaning you attack while swapping. They are stat based though. Stellar Blade isn't great. It's very slow paced with dripfeed progression through poorly designed areas that aren't fun to explore or move around in. Interacting with anything climbable is janky, and the controls are less responsive than other action games by design because they want to railroad you into these cinematic perfect parry/dodge moments. It's like they started with specific screenshots they wanted to happen and then designed the combat mechanics backward from there.

If you suck at souls games, you're gonna get raped in this game. outside of combat mechanics, it's a proper dark souls 1 clone, in the best ways and worst ways (blight town). if you do NOT buy the deluxe addition, you will barley have any weapons to play for dozens of hours.

If you are referring to jiangshi then they kinda are. Japanese ghosts and yokai look very visually distinct from their chinese variants if you are well versed enough.

I think this game punishes you hard core for dying. The game has this madness mechanic that increases as you keep dying. It increases your damage but lowers your defense and you can use it to boost spells. However it can(?) summon a demon that acts like a mimic tear if you die that attacks everything in the area and you have to kill it get your dropped currency back. The youtuber I watched seems to imply that it worked like insight in Bloodborne that progressively made the world more fucked up but could just be bad wording. However enemies do fall back and interact with surroundings as they die. Like if a guy dies dies near a fence, his body crumples and hangs in between the fence.

It does remind me of Nioh in a way where it has a ton of historical references sprinkled in for would be knowers of the subject. It makes the game at least imo feel more immersive than other chinese games that just dump you in a vaguely asian setting with no connection to the irl world and just you do kungfu with other chinese dudes while repeating the same wuxia and xianxia tropes.
Also, the game does focus very heavily on buddhist horror which is very nice.

Yes, there's quite a lot of underwear. Most of the "pants" and skirts are part of her tops, so you can just unequip the top to have no pants most of the time. Honestly, I'm fine with soulslikes if the atmosphere is trying to be horror because the slow and dangerous vibe of the setting actually makes the combat choice much more immersive.
Soulslike doesn't make sense if the game is about some superhero fighting random mooks and the overall tone of the game is much brighter and positive.
