If you are interested in motor racing history, the le Mans Series of books by Quentin Spurring are exceptional but pretty dense. They are also quite expensive. You can get them a bit cheaper on Amazon

The Technique of Motor Racing by Piero Taruffi is really good since it was written in 1960 about driving in 1960.
Can-Am History by Pete Lyons is also fantastic, but I would recommend getting two of the Spurring le Mans books for what they are asking for it.
Indianapolis Motor Speedway: 100 Years of Racing by Ralph Kramer is pretty good and super cheap and it's a light read.
If you have a used book store in town, I'd check them out. I got a lot of great books about racing history and competitive driving for pretty cheap.
