The PS2 version of Okami stacked against Switch is fascinating because this sort of cel shading in tandem with lots of post-processing simply allowed the PS2's bandwidth and fill rate strengths - one of its key advantages - to run wild, whereas the Switch simply does not have this sort of fillrate or 48GB/s GPU bandwidth. More than enough to redraw the whole screen 400 times at 60 FPS! There's no video game not made for PS2 that's capable of performing that, even if you consider its target resolution and there never will be. This is why the rain is always crippled on MGS2 HD/MC, why the smoke is not as dense in Shadow of the Colossus 2018, why the UE5 Polish Hill 2 fog is a joke on PS5... The PS2 has 99 problems, but fillrate ain't one. There will never be a console that can do regular transparency effects like the PS2. 48GB/s to fill a tiny ass 512x448 picture is just too much.
It's just a totally unique, absurd alpha effect pumping hog of a machine that FODaragi designed for us right before the car industry snatched him away from us.
