This explains a lot so I assume Japan is like India in terms of their entertainment, for example indian shows and movies will find the palest actresses and actors for their productions who are like 0.5 of the population and pretend that they are the norm.
I was genuinely surprised from the number of tanned skin japanese people that I've met in my line of work, I kinda assumed they were just Filipinos or Indonesians only for them to telling me that they are from Japan.
