I hated the end of Witch because there were too many weak plotlines that were never given the time they needed. There was never going to be enough time to flesh out all 4 houses, Benerit Group/Cathedra, the remnants of the Vanadis Institue/Shin Sei Development, the Space Assembly League, and Dawn of Fold in just 2 cour.
Gquuuuux still doesn't have enough episodes to develop Machu, Nyaan, and Shuji but 2 cours would have been enough thanks to all of the established settings and characters from UC. We needed a full cour of Clan Battle developing their relationships, showing how Nyaan is barely surviving, Matchu seeing life for Spacenoids under Zeon hegemony, learning more about NewTypes from Shuji, and the climax should have been Shuji disappearing. I would have held of on showing Nyaan was a NewType until the end of the season to emphasize the disparity between her and Matchu. A second cour of Nyaan finding a place to belong fighting for Kycilia and feeling empowered as a "Diablo", and Matchu exploring Earth & the state of the Federation while searching for Shuji while bonding with Challia's Sodon Fleet. Focus on Matchu and Nyaan as foils seeing different sides, make the audience miss the time they were all together during the previous cour.
