Yes. It was a bootleg Mario from the 80s and Nintendo actually managed to sue and get it banned. Ironically though decades later a second game was made and released on the NintendoDS of all things. (Unless you count Hard 'n' Heavy as the second game, which started out as a Giana Sisters game but was changed to having robot characters to avoid another lawsuit)
That image is the German box art for the Commodore64 version by the way, the British C64 box art was... not great. Picrel.
