It’s weirdly true. My wife and I recently got her mom for a visit from her sister. My sister in law and I both drove a couple hundred miles to exchange her. It felt like divorced parents with a custody agreement. We drove her where she needed to go, bought all her food (which was mostly chicken nuggets and Mac and cheese), and took her out to buy fireworks and light them off. She even brought legos and a Nintendo Switch. A literal child.
