anyways i dont understand how people think starship troopers is satire. Its clearly propaganda regardly of how verhoven intended it to be viewed. Even today now war is better understood by the public post 9/11 the satirical aspects of the movie are still too subtle. Like yeah they have on your nose moments like the "would you like to know more" segments or the costuming and casting choices or weird dialouge but even then it still dosent counteract the larger message. The average young adult in 1997 honestly cant have been expected to watch this movie and think that its satirical of propaganda theyre just going to either think it is actual propaganda or go join the ROTC which is basically how a lot of people reacted. Like just because the director say "its satire" doesnt make it satire. People saw this movie as a kid and then died in Afghanistan and iraq and i dont think theyre stupid for being victims of propaganda they just saw things through a different perspective.
