There's a missing piece here that the OP video has that only someone who has watched LoGH all the way through would know. Spoiler ahead:
The man who speaks about religion in the video, MacKenzie, is himself part of a large religious sect that has its own independent state. They're basically hypermercantilistic and always try to appear neutral in the public sphere, but its later found out they actually crafted significant public events to try to keep the war going so they could make money and control politicians.
So MacKenzie is pushing religion, his religion, in the video, but if as you watch LoGH you realize he's one of the worst people in the setting and is personally responsible for much, if not most, of the horrible shit that's taking place.
