I wonder why it’s so hard for modern mangaka to integrate exposition into the story in an organic, diegetic way. They either rely on non-diegetic text boxes (which would at least make sense if the story established a narrator), or on long, boring info-dumps delivered by the characters. They seldom make use of the visual aspect of the medium to convey information to the reader.
