I'm surprised at how much I liked it. I saw the big booba lady and assumed it was a cover to compensate for poor writing but I actually enjoyed it. It has an interesting premise and the mangaka did a good job setting up Chiyou and Kou's relationship. I agree with >>279885123 and >>279885993 in that I wish her face wasn't the first thing recovered but the decision may well have been editor fiat given how competitive the magazine is.

From a female perspective Kou is likable and his devotion to Chiyou is really cute. By contrast while I liked Fabricant I couldn't root for the main duo as a couple because the MC was too young it was just unattractive, and since people are comparing this to Nue well Gakuro just isn't cute. So far Kou and Chiyou have nice chemistry; I don't know if the mangaka intends to pair them (it might remain a found family story that happens to have fanservice) but if he does I could find it believable that Chiyou could fall for Kou, he has an attractive design too which helps.

Kou needs to be attractive if the manga wants to gain any female fans because big booba fanservice is usually a deterrent. And if it adds in a bunch of extra chicks then it competes against Nue.

Currently while I wouldn't be mad if the mangaka added extra female party members I'd strongly prefer if Kou's primary focus remained on Chiyou. Unless the mangaka really hits a homerun with the character writing I'd probably drop it if Kou gets set up with an alternative female love interest.

Yeah, great chapter and I can see a lot of room for the story post-reunification. Even moreso than Kagurabachi, which seems like it will end once all the swords have been collected and destroyed. I imagine we'll see other gods come into play and some kind of wider conflict begin.

I don't see how you can read this and delude yourself into thinking the mangaka does not have a prurient interest in age gap relationships. Even if they don't pair up there's probably gonna be a lot of jokes and allusions to it. If you can't accept that then I don't think you're engaging with the work the way the mangaka wants you to. Chapter 1 sets up that the emotional core of the manga is supposed to be their bond, to me it seems like either the story will develop that into romance eventually or it will go the harem route.

They either rely on non-diegetic text boxes (which would at least make sense if the story established a narrator), or on long, boring info-dumps delivered by the characters.
