The object did flavor it. Ralsei has pink horns.
Ralsei in general seems to be entirely made up to play this role and be subservient to Kris. He was probably "imagined" by Kris starting as a copy of Asriel.

Ralsei's pink horns come from the red headband, which probably faded over time.
The rest of his color was colored in by Kris in his favorite color, green.

And Kris gets very defensive over their OC Donut Steal being different from Asriel:
