>I'm graduating from university next year and I am thinking about joining as an officer, either the Marines or Air Force.
First input, Air Force OTS is very fucking competitive. Basically every retard out there with a BA in Business Management wants to be an Air Force officer. The first challenge is even getting an Air Force officer recruiter to pick up the fucking phone and talk to a retard like you. They literally do not need you. Not saying don’t go for it, but it’s picky rn. Selection rates are going up, and, by going up, I mean they’re going from like 2% to 12%. Also, the process can literally take fucking years. Even if you get selected, it still might be a whole year before the Air Force actually sends you off to join. Prepare to get a temp job to work while you wait in purgatory.
Marines are far less picky, but know this, you better be in great fucking shape. There’s only one thing the Marines hate more than fat Marines, and that’s fat officers. Marines is a different lifestyle all around. Also, their OCS is more physically intensive from what I understand, and a lot of people (mostly fat fucks) wash out because they get hurt. Be in shape, know how to run.
>I know these two branches are very different culturally but they both appeal to me. On one hand the Marines are badass trained killers with cool uniforms
You’re retarded. Nice job swallowing the propaganda. Those cool dress uniforms? You’ll wear them once a year. Also, most jobs aren’t infantry.
>but at the same time the Air Force treats you better, uses more brains and isn't as physically exhausting.
Job selection matters, but sure.
>Like if the pay is the same for the ranks in all branches, I don't see why I should put myself through all that trouble of being a Marine.
Because the Air Force might not let you in at all.
>I don't want to be boots on the ground getting killed by a drone either.
Retard. Job selection matters. There’s even combat Airmen.
