It makes me wonder, what if the Injuns got horses from the beginning?? The moment they got their hands on wild horses left by the Spanish, and tamed them, a who fucking POWDERKEG happened and the Injuns immediately started to form nations and territories, Apachees started fighting the Navajos, hunting bison become a sport, and the connection with the horse become like a spirit animal.
I feel like if they had gotten horses before they went extinct, Injuns would have been significantly far more advanced and superior than whites. Even with the limited shit they had they were already forming complex nation structures and communities, had sophisticated defensive compounds, and had hegemonies that the British who came over were comparing it as complex as the Romans like the Iriquos Confederacy that had a council like structure between 5 nation city states who came together to parlay what things needed to be done like a council or senate. Men ruled the wartime council, and women ruled the social aspect of the tribe.
