the actual reason is uis like that are actual image files, so the bigger they are, the more vram they use by default, and the more processing power it takes. all the flat shit are shapes drawn by the engine, so they take effectively zero vram, and no processing. do give a slightly flawed example, in this image, the small ui is 480p, at 308kb. the big ui on the right is 4k, and 5mb. that's almost 17 times bigger. now imagine making all your ui elements "4k compliant" so the ui isn't blurry. games are already bloated to fuck.
