I mostly use discords for specific manga now, there's generally one hosted by translators and such, (for bigger manga at least) as well as places like weebcentral. You could use mal or anilist, but they're on their way out. You're definitely not crazy, its gotten really bad here. There's a reason 4chan is getting slower and slower.
