Comics Brainiac has the unfortunate fate of being inferior to an adaptation of him. DCAU Brainiac mogs him hard in terms of storytelling: the universe did a ton of interesting stuff with him, and him being personally responsible for the destruction of Krypton gave him a personal edge to his villainy with Clark.

He is, basically, a completely different character than mainstream DC Brainiac, and it's arguably the case that he's a BETTER character. This puts regular DCU Brainiac in a very tough spot.
