right now it's a shitfest because of the shoehorned-in sekiro stance meter. the meta is to build that meter up as fast as possible and then melt your enemy with 8x damage while they're vulnerable for 3+ second, or even longer if you whip out a melee weapon with a hardcoded true combo attached to it. with the current netcode it's quite literally just a "I DO MORE STANCE DAMAGE SO I WIN" simulator

zims evolved into BVOs (Basho Viento Ocellus), their new strategy is to use the Basho arms (highest melee damage arms), dual Viento pistols (highest stagger buildup per second), and Ocellus (fastest close-range lock-on), plus a melee weapon of your choice (but the only one they choose is the laser slicer, which locks you into a multiple second hard coded true combo).
What this essentially does is builds up stagger as fast as possible (within seconds), then melts 150% of your health bar if you're a light mech, 90% of your health bar if you're a medium mech, and 50% of your health bar if you're a heavy mech.
