Why do people defend it and praise it so much? I don't like leaving games unfinished but this is beyond boring. And i'm not even half way through the game AND i have to play Mother 3

Do majority of earthbound fans just defend it without having ever played it? Because it's so boring, slow, stupid, the humor is cringe and it has so much grinding.
