Are spiders evil in your setting? Or are the biggest spiders monsters?
I ask because I feel conflicted. I have a positive view of spiders, I like them and the silk aspect is also intriguing, but I came up with a fiting side-villain to my story.
It is a distributed cult that consists of women calling themselves "the web" and claim that "the spider" crawls through them. They have command over spiders and live in forests and caves to trap men similar to sirens. When they have a man, "the spider" feels the tug on "the web" and comes over them to feed, through a sort of connected dream world.
I like the concept but I still don't want to give spiders a bad rep.
