They fight often when the money started messing with things. It didn't make things impossible, but there would be screaming matches that made other staff scared. and if it was bad enough Vinyl would throw shit and even toss him out the window. They always made up and he'd mostly get his way, but Neon knew best for the sake of product quality and monetary longevity to mostly leave Vinyl to it. He was corpo as fuck but believed in brand quality.

It's not dingy, she just never cleans in her space. She still has money, he just had... more. Vinyl is comfortably upper class and Tolltavia is related to way upper class people. Vinyl just doesn't have any idea what to use the money on except for music and food. She only retired because she felt she was getting too old in a buisness for young people, but didn't really want to quit. So she was left feeling completely empty. Tolltavia was something to make her feel like she's helping someone with music, since Tolltavia just had a deficiency in musical taste, social acclimation, and just general having a lop sided early education all things that can be loaded off on Vinyl and Ponyville public education.
