really wanted 'chosen' too but apart from animated army I couldn't find another decent drawback to take
then comes usurper, I know its practically suicide but if I had a small chance to become that strong I will 100% take it

I'm planning to go against gods, diplomacy and stealth won't get me far

only the free ones, anything else would only slow me down. I could have taken elitism but I believe finding trustworthy people/slaves to do a peon's work would be a massive waste of time and a big weakness in my empire

phalanx for low cost and versatility
shapshooter synergizes with my crafters and gives me good ranged units
centurion for the brains
and the crafters because I will need a bunch of the highest quality items for my army
>praetorian, animater, magus, strategos, behemoth
the real heavy weights that will follow me into the battle against the goddesses, I'm sure they will be immune or at least highly resistant to things like debuffs so I have to go with extreme violence
>STARTING LOCATION: amber coast
gloriend, sanctum and forest would be bad with overt lord
far north is not better as I'm working with limited time
the islands would not benefit me much with no aquatic races
at least in the coast I could find some early allies in witches and exiles
my plan is to prepare fast and hit hard, expand my territory asap for essence generation and summoning my elites before the cities come to invade
