>>96083071In theory, but the problem with that is obvious. It's something I'll have to think about, even in regard to Sae. I could do it, but would it trivialize the image? Does it matter if it trivializes the image? I want people to be able to play their way, that's important to me. I also want to maintain the . . . atmosphere of Phal Edin too. It's a difficult thing to figure out. ALl I can promise is that I'll try it, and if it works I'll keep it. If I don't, it's not to say it doesn't make sense that they'd be able to do those things. There's also the question of, "are they willing?" In some cases, especially in regard to particular events. Let me think on this one. If I don't do it, it's not because it's a bad idea. It's likely just because I couldn't get it to work in a way I liked.
The ruler . . . I've purposely not said much. I think if I include something about that, it'll be from the perspectives of outsiders - rather than an overall author's note.
I will say this. The Cobalt Blade is an example of how melee can be magical. I did have a concept of a honor system at one point where the player who gained honor through actions could meet a special class of warrior, not of Pahl Edin, a wanderer who taught their art. They're a demon slayer, essentially. Honorable acts empower them, dishonorable acts lessen their power. They express their magic through burning blades, auras that defend against the soul sucking powers of some undead, etc. Not the swing your sword releases a fire blade sort, but they are the my burning blade can harm entities normal weapons cannot sort.
The problem, like most ideas for the image . . . is the image is already a lot to track.
Let me think of it. My brain is swiss cheese anymore. I do like the idea of a bestiary, but I like the idea of a lot of things that just don't make it in.
I've promised things in the past I couldn't deliver. I am trying to be more realistic as a way of apologizing to those I've disappointed in the past.
>>96083257Why does the real thread have a fairy tail cyoa?
>>96083373Can't speak for the post, but I really like Fairy Tale anytime I just want to watch magic adventures that leave me in a better mood.
>>96082630>What's your opinion on jumpchains?jumpchains as a whole are inherently boring because each of them already gives you powers/potential to become one of the stronger people in the setting, so by your second jump you are just the strongest mary sue and nothing could hope to match you which is just not really fun or engaging.
a few of them are well made though, like that one fallout one that was made interactive, so I play them as normal isolated cyoas and ignore any jumping part.
Could somebody please compile all of liminalโs answered questions like we do with italics.
>>96083299>It's a difficult thing to figure out. ALl I can promise is that I'll try it, and if it works I'll keep it. Let me think on this one. If I don't do it, it's not because it's a bad idea. It's likely just because I couldn't get it to work in a way I liked. My suggestion would be marking the events in some way to signify that companions could take these (a colored icon in the corner of the event's image for example), the unmarked events would all be player exclusive.
>I did have a concept of a honor system at one point where the player who gained honor through actions could meet a special class of warrior, not of Pahl Edin, a wanderer who taught their art. They're a demon slayer, essentially. Honorable acts empower them, dishonorable acts lessen their power. That sounds like a cool character. The honor system does sound tedious though. Maybe just ditch the honour thing entirely and introduce the demon slayer in an event dedicated to them? whether they'll teach you their art could depend on your previous event choices, evil choices make him dislike you, while altruistic choices make him like you.

>>96083612>You get isekai'd in your favorite CYOA as you are now, without a build.>Are you still able to live a meaningful life? Would you even take the deal? There's an old anime - El-Hazard - that kind of ran with that idea. Three high school students were summoned to a fantasy world. One was the Chosen One, but the other two were just in the wrong place at the wrong time. One joined the forces of evil, while the other just set out to get incredibly rich.
Really, though, most people would be in a lot of trouble. In all likelihood, you wouldn't speak the local language, and wouldn't have any marketable skills - either being too advanced or too primitive for the society. And even if you lucked out and got an English-speaking society with contemporary tech, you'd have no paper trail: no educational credentials, no work history, no credit history . . .
Unless you wanted to be a super spy or the ultimate anarchist, I don't know what you're supposed to do there, that you couldn't do here.
Now, if you wanted to talk about a very minimal build, that might be different. Or if there are local agents on the other side waiting to help integrate you . . .
I'm not going to rule out the idea entirely, but I'd have questions I'd want answered first.
I remember when liminal posted like a year or two ago to literally zero responses. Why all of a sudden so you faggots love him? I donโt trust you. I donโt trust ANY of you. Youโre just following the bandwagon or something.

And I certainly don't have a sense of belonging to any of their fandoms or the ridiculous level of blind devotion your average fanboy does. They all slide that slippery slope down into the gutter sooner or later, to take their place with the rest of the trash. Games, books, writers, developers. All of them, so what's the point of getting attached and building your personality around them?
Also any derivative products or fanworks are usually much worse than whatever inspired them. The Witcher CYOA was okay though (except that one page), saying that as someone who's never played a single Witcher game.

>>96084453Itโs not really hard. You essentially select the first thing that happens to you, then the events of your first year. One event for every 4 months. So 4 choices to define that year. You gain gold and experience from these choices, as well as additional rewards. The gold and experience are spent on the following pages. Obviously 4chan is full of freaks (myself included) but this general used to have more well-adjusted and diverse individuals and a bigger population, period. You don't see many CYOAs with broader artistic appeal anymore - they mostly cater to fetishes/specific slop genres. it's a major bummer. If I had my shit together I would try to reinvigorate this place with something outside of the usual formula
>>96084720Doing OK! I look over the threads pretty frequently but they have been sparse in content for some time now. >>96084701>>96084718The CYOA confirms locations. We know Rosebud has mages and is in the US. Lovecraft is canon so Innsmouth, Dunwich and that one college town in the northern US is confirmed controlled by Galileo Clan.
Mage government has confirmed glowies operating in Paris. Japan has a town ran by mages for mages from the Japanese Clan. Also all the mages uses the same last name so you can narrow the search to stuff like Ford and Evoco.
Finding mages with meta knowledge would be easy, hard part is travel.
>>96083255>Prisoner (+4 MP)It's my understand I just get slotted into the universe. So having just escaped prison, my goal is to make it to Fairy Tail.

>True Magic (20)Many great choices of perks, but this is the most important. The magic I choose will be great, and I need it to never be taken away, and for it to work on everybody. People seem naturally fit in Fairytail world, I'm already fairly intelligent, and I can learn better magical control and combat skills from my guild. Until I can learn these things, my magic will carry me.
>Command T (12)I've read the manga, and so I know how powerful this magic is. Brandish is untouchable essentially. And with True Magic and the amount of power I'll have, nobody can be immune to this. I can shrink them all instantly. I can destroy entire land masses if I want, or make new ones. It's god power.
>Arc of Time (4)This isn't 100% needed, but I love the Josuke power set and it is a nice supplement, even though it is pricy. And as a Lost Magic, it isn't something I can just pick up and learn, so I think it is important enough to take here.
>Take Over (0)This covers what I lack which is raw strength and speed , and energy blasts I suppose. There is a lot of versatility with this one. A large part of the strategy will be using Arc of Time and Command T to shrink and freeze monsters for study, and practice taking their power
In Total I have 24 Magics, bringing me to the level of a High Mage. With this much raw power, hopefully I can pick up and handle powerful transformations with ease, and use my Command T as often as I want.
I'd like to join Fairy Tail, they're good people and knowing they're out in the world somewhere and I'm not befriending them, that hurts.
>>96084708I fuck with Tarot
>>96084718>Can't we deduce approximate locations from the cyoa? Otherwise, go to a government HQ.There's approximate, and then there's approximate. Take the Aozdou, for example. We know they have extensive holdings in Japan, and have for centuries.
And that tells you a lot less than you might think. There are a TON of old money estates in Japan - and that's assuming the Aozdou are on one of the officially occupied islands in the chain.
I'm not saying it's impossible - some of the clans would have bigger footprints. Ford is probably a bigger buyer of rare earth elements and semiconductors for their technomagic, Lionheart's military interventions probably generate a lot of gossip among the armed forces and private military contractors. . .
That would still take some legwork to uncover, though. And it might be a race as to whom gets to you first. The mages or the antimages.

>>96084843There might be some measure of truth in it, who knows? I could see tank promoting a type of cyoa with deep, somewhat impenetrable lore that becomes terrible when executed by worse authors. Iโd say reddit is 90% poor imitation of concepts that would be good in competent hands.
I must complain. My autism has peaked.
I fucking hate difficulty selections in a cyoa. I want to play a world, usually with me as going through a creation, *very* rarely as a character that I just happen to randomly be making the choices for. I don't care for character creators by themselves, even if it's just "oh, this is your new body now!". I am here for a story, an imagination, even a pick 3 power thing can be annoyingly waved off as "Well, I guess I wake up with these 3 powers huh."
But Fuck Difficulty. The "choose easy, medium, or hard" that has no narrative weight or any real reasoning behind it. Because there's no reason not to just take the easy or sandbox option from a practical perspective and there's no narrative weight to lean that in anyway. There's no baseline really even if an option is called 'normal.' In a way, it makes the cyoa partially Meta, and I really fucking hate those. Let me just slap bullshit onto another's person creation. If you're gonna do that then just use the original thing as a basis for your own ideas, don't apply some weird meta to try to create an abomination of an idea.
Anyway back to difficulty, don't care for them unless there's an in universe reason for *why* the option exists and, preferably but not necessarily, a good reason to pick one over the other. Blessing of the Demon God of creation has one that has *no* reason not to take the sandbox mode *but* has narrative weight to it all, and thus is perfectly fine.
Anyway, yeah, my autistic splurge of super autism is over.

>Powerful options(Companions or mythic weapons) are blocked behind certain events that will offer less points to encourage the use of drawbacks.
Should I say what you will earn exactly on the choice itself or maybe keep the rewards separated as a mystery?
>>96085038Why bother making it a mystery? Mystery boxes are usually giant traps and those who care to find out what they are will skip ahead and play the CYOA out of sequence.
>>96085109Well, to give the CYOA a more immersive feeling
>>96085109Adding to this if it's a part of a series of events in the Cyoa why put it at the end if you are not chronologically receiving it at the end? And if you received everything at the end, there would be no point in wasting points to get through the event. You would just be promised stuff that can be used after the CYOA is done while flailing around with a lesser build.
>>96085038Whatever you do, don't make it a mystery box. You don't even have to explicitly say what it unlocks, just as long as it's clear that it allows something and the option that requires it says as much.
Really, it depends on the type of event. Would it be normal for our character to know what it unlocks?
>>96085200Is the point of the CYOA to paint a picture that says "everything sucks because real life is unpredictable"?
OC is DEAD. No more for ungrateful /cyoag/.
>>96085034>Post some horror and maybe.
>>96084889The funny thing is, I've never actually considered adding difficulty options in mine. Like, it simply never crossed my mind as a possibility. I don't know if what I'm going for is too hard or too easy right now anyway. Could be I am drastically under or overestimating the players. I'll find out and adjust if I have to. But multiple options? Nah.
>>96085205Mmm from an in world perspective you are going on adventures and the points represent your advancement they represent in universe experience, intuition or resources.
You can spend it immediately after earning it as it represents what you learned.
>>96085221>Would it be normal for our character to know what it unlocks? That's exactly what I'm grappling with.
For example if you decide to spend some time just training it would make sense to know you will earn certain experience.
But how do you know what you will earn if you help investigate a town that gor wiped out recently?
I also might like to have some missions let you decide what rewards to get for example do you offer the creature you found to the government for more rewards or do you keep it as a companion option?
But in this case I feel like limiting the possible answers to problems is lame.
>>96085223No but there are moments where you don't know what you will get out of a situation.
>>96085365So then what would stop you from knowing what it is and what would make you learn? If you find something in a village, you can experiment with an item to see what it could do (with better success if you have appraisal skills or something) or talk to your companion (or just attack them to see what abilities they throw out and smooth things over with language or mind control ).
A CYOA that sort of does what you are talking about doing better is Hyeanon's Recon Rover Rick CYOA. You don't know what's going to happen in the future as society progresses but you are given a reasonable amount of clues and resources for each era you're in.
Do you mind if ai pictures are included?

So if I can afford it, why should I deny myself such an delightful and unique experience? There is no reason, life should be lived to it's fullest. It was a once in a lifetime experience and I will always remember it fondly. Horses have such powerful bodies and I feelt that power when I thrust into that horse. The added centaur immersion I got from listening to a fiver voice actress roleplay as a centaur girl while I pumped that horse pussy contributed to such an immersive experience. I wish technology could allow me to upload my memory of it and that you could download this memory and feel and see my experience. Then and only then would you realize just how golden that experience was.

OC update (Isekai Dark Overlord v1.1)
There were feedback suggestions I could have added and probably some weird parts left that ought to be fixed, but I decided to release it now anyway (I've been sitting on it long enough already).
No major changes really, mostly just more choices, some tweaks (elites cost more, but you have more unit points etc.), and specializations as the brand new thing.
>>96087418>its finally outbless you Micah
>>96087418>>96087514- form specializations section
- made the cyoa wider with 5 choices per row in most sections
- more traits, drawbacks, races, medium & elite units, and one more location
- shuffled unit costs a bit for both essence and points, notably all elites are more expensive
- you also have more unit points (25)
- added section explaining magic to some degree
- small changes to some perks / drawbacks, for example:
o Monuments now works without witnesses but attract attention from enemy (based on a suggestion for perk that works like that, I decided to change monuments instead since there was overlap)
o Elitism doesn't allow Peons anymore (thematically more fitting, need to find workaround for your snobs)
o Land Transformation costs two points
o Phylactery boosts respawn rate

>>96087418After giving a full read of this, i'm gonna be honest. This didn't really improve my experience and kind of just made my build worse with the only upside being increased unit types. That's really disappointing.
>>96087418question, is it possible to just make automatons normally, or do you have to take them as a minion option to have them
What kind of choices are needed to assist in immersion? Beyond picking like a starting point/town in your guys eyes?
>>96087887Minion option encompasses multiple types, some are easier than others. Golem crafting is not uncommon in the world, so any overlord could figure it out, homunculus is more rare but high level alchemists can do it so you could learn it from their work. Magitech automatons etc. don't normally exist in this world so it'd need to be researched from scratch unless you're Creator Sorcerer.
>>96087979Depends on the genre and story.
>>96087979Itโs not about the choices, itโs about how you write them. Take the starting town example. Did you just slap a fantasy name on a generic picture of a town, then tell us weโre from there? Maybe thatโs enough for a reader whoโs just gonna fill in the story themselves, but if you want immerse them you need to think about what it would really be like to come from this town and how it relates to the larger world. Where is it located in relation to the capital or other main areas of interest? Does it have any interesting geography or landmarks? A particular trade? How long has your family been there and what do they do? Any townsfolk of note? History? What does it smell like?
You donโt have to put that all in, naturally, but these details help breathe life into an otherwise simple option. Itโs your opportunity to set a mood. Every option isnโt just serving a mechanical purpose, youโre building a setting and giving a story momentum.
If you can interconnect details from different options, that helps too. For example, if a great hero came from your town, what became of them? Are they still around? Do the people of your town idolize them? Did they fall to villainy? Disappear mysteriously?
What kind of mental illness makes a person write a cyoa? I don't even mean this as an insult. I'm here, aren't I? But seriously though. What insanity compels this kind of hyper-niche project. With how many hours people spend? How many thousands of words of writing they give over to it? Why? And why did make a few too? Tell me, why the fuck?
>>96088133>Why did *I* make a few, too?Fucking typos.
>>96087418Congratulations on the release MiCha, and thank you for not cucking out on the enemy's powerlevel. Some anons dislike a challenge and think it's insurmountable, but between the Overlord's personal strength, far easier replacement of our own forces, and the ripe potential for just general attrition, I think it's about what I'd expect for what's supposed to be a challenging, thousand year spanning conquest.
I have a couple of questions about the CYOA.
For Fallen Angels, I notice it says that they're unavailable for Basic tiers and cost half as much. Does that mean that they cost half as much to recruit for medium and elite tiers, or is it half again as much, and they cost x1.5 the value?
Who are the deities accessed in Dark Gods? Are they allies of the Mysterious Being that he's given carte-blanche to intervene, or are they weaker, local divinities clinging to the world? Or are they not true gods at all?
Nonjuration and Overt Lord got a chuckle out of me, but I'm curious about the latter. For Overt Lord, do the goddesses immediately know the nature of your origins and your powers, or do they know that there's a distant new threat?
About Fusion and the Chosen traits. What happens if you, the Overlord, attempt to fuse with a Chosen? As for Assimilators, is it possible to gain the minion's ability to absorb slain foes? If so, how does that impact the Overlord's form?
As for Chosen, is it possible to gain additional slots in the far future? I don't think so, but think it warrants asking.
If an Overlord manages to usurp one of the goddesses, what happens to the False Priests of that goddess?
Last but not least, which is your favourite of the Overlord forms and specializations? I've been curious for a while and they're all balanced enough that I don't think I could guess. Thank you again for the update, MiCha, I'm convinced this is the best CYOA to have released in 2025 and seriously appreciate you've put into it.
>>96087418Really? We waited months for this?
>>96087418>gave more points>upped the cost on fucking everything so now I have less units than beforeWhat the actual fuck was the point?

>>96088127ChatGPT is getting better these days.
At this point I don't even want to update my build, it's just completely worse off due to the fucked race and unit changes.
>>96088176Thanks!
>For Fallen Angels...Right, it's supposed to be x1.5 multiplier.
>Who are the deities accessed in Dark Gods? They're allies of the Being with some sort of deal that they won't interfere with the main goal here, but can nudge the details like incentivize you to spread plagues if it's god of diseases. You could assume there's a god for all major evil god concepts like that.
>For Overt Lord, do the goddesses immediately know...It doesn't immediately reach them, but their clergy could pick it up if you're in same region and inform them.
>What happens if you, the Overlord, attempt to fuse with a Chosen?Probably doesn't work on you.
>As for Assimilators, is it possible to gain the minion's ability>As for Chosen, is it possible to gain additional slots in the far future?I'd say for both that it's not impossible if you go all out to reach for it, but if you ascend to godhood etc. then those aren't such a big deal anyway.
>If an Overlord manages to usurp one of the goddesses, what happens to the False PriestsThey're just mages mimicking cleric powers, so nothing I suppose.

>>96088537It would be fine but even with the confederation perk getting one extra race I'm still down, since even just matching my build for the old version would require eight race points. So it's a nerf. Without changing anything, my build also only got a whopping two unit points out of the update, I wasn't even an elitist person and I got shafted because heavy infantry/sharpshooter/monstrous mount increased in points for no reason, so basically i have enough points for artisan and like alchemist or standard-bearer...
This one isn't really a complaint, and it's not a nerf, but I need to now take three drawbacks or something which are all awful because I absolutely need to take chosen. On a lesser note, the image I was going to use for shadows in my build update got stolen for the new image for wraith, and since I was trying to avoid overlapping images with the cyoa that's annoying, but whatever I'll still use it, just funny that micha was lurking and got it.
I was really looking forward to this update and i'm still going to completely remake my image build to look better and stuff but most of the will to do so has been sucked out after actually reading what changed, but I did appreciate small stuff in wordings. It's not all bad, there's definitely stuff I liked, but actual core change wise it mostly either made my build almost exactly the same in some places or nerfed it in others. I looking forward to adding stuff like magus with more points but I can't even afford them with the new point changes.

>UNITS: >peon, foddersonly the free ones, anything else would only slow me down. I could have taken elitism but I believe finding trustworthy people/slaves to do a peon's work would be a massive waste of time and a big weakness in my empire
>phalanx, sharpshooter, artisan, alchemist, centurionphalanx for low cost and versatility
shapshooter synergizes with my crafters and gives me good ranged units
centurion for the brains
and the crafters because I will need a bunch of the highest quality items for my army
>praetorian, animater, magus, strategos, behemoththe real heavy weights that will follow me into the battle against the goddesses, I'm sure they will be immune or at least highly resistant to things like debuffs so I have to go with extreme violence
>STARTING LOCATION: amber coastgloriend, sanctum and forest would be bad with overt lord
far north is not better as I'm working with limited time
the islands would not benefit me much with no aquatic races
at least in the coast I could find some early allies in witches and exiles
my plan is to prepare fast and hit hard, expand my territory asap for essence generation and summoning my elites before the cities come to invade

>>96089753Who cares? Is not an online game.
>>96089840It's like if anduin came back with an update for dawn of a demon lord but all he did was add more minions but make tier 4 minions cost double points. Like, ok thanks you added more stuff but you also made it so I can't take any of it???
>>96089790>>96089840Don't forget your double cost elites are cattle compared to the super cool npc legions!
>>96087418Can units like Anti-Paladin, if made into a Corporeal Undead, self-sustain themselves or other Corporeal Undead, using Mana, much like a Mage can? And likewise, for things like Anti-Paladins, they say they're sustained by things like the Being, generally how much of a dick is the Being when it comes to keeping my dudes powered with Anti-Paladin powers? Is there power source being taken away or tweaked without my consent a real possibility, or no? And is it possible for a Necromancer to research any how things like Blessings work, with a sufficient number of test subject examples, such as say, Anti-Paladins?

>>96090044It was not a cyoa specific complaint, just something I want to see less of in general (the comment about eroding the challenge was specifically about that specific cyoa though).
Micha, I know you are a good author. Please fix the little problems the update has.
>>96089735>one of its characters who becomes a loser you have to take out because his CYOA didn't let him circumvent the drawbacks he was forced to take to make anything remotely functional.Which character was that?
>>96089960It's more like if 90% of anons ignored the first 2 tiers of minions because the tier 4 minions cost was identical to tier 1 fodder, so alduin updated it to increase the tier 4 minion cost to what you would expect for how strong they are.
>>96089980>Can units like Anti-Paladin, if made into a Corporeal Undead, self-sustain themselves or other Corporeal Undead, using Mana, much like a Mage can?Sure
>how much of a dick is the Being when it comes to keeping my dudes poweredHmm I'd rule that he can't take away already given powers, but could deny further progress (though he'd only do this if seriously pissed off). The anti-paladin could forgo his powers and swap to another deity also, though he'd be weaker for some time before garnering enough favor.
>is it possible for a Necromancer to research any how things like Blessings workYou could do it just like other gods if you ascend to godhood, but before that it requires very deep understanding of souls. Possible, but takes a long time of researching.
>>96090135The higher tier cost minions already cost proportionally more to create, there was literally zero reason to double the point cost for elite minions.
>>96086134>worthless retarded posts (like yours). That's all you make.
Fucking kettle calling the pot black.
>>96090135They already cost differently to create according to their power. If you make the t4 minions cost more that means they have a better ratio and it's no longer viable to pick any other tier.
>>96090135Nah, that was just a bad change.
>>96090150I think the higher tier minions will eventually be way more valuable than the low tier ones beyond the difference in essence cost.
They allow for far greater concentration of force. You are not going to defeat armies of archmages, divine dragons and whatever else nonesense the the top tier armies have with any number of goblins. Maybe an isolated divine dragon could eventually be overwhelmed and exhausted through sheer numbers, but a properly supported force seems like it would at least require a huge army of elite minions.
Thus it makes sense that the elites also cost more points.
>>96090202They already cost more points. There was no need for any more points. Specially due to the enemy having an even better version of them to spam against you.
>>96090202> You are not going to defeat armies of archmages, divine dragons and whatever else nonesense the the top tier armies have with any number of goblins. Maybe an isolated divine dragon could eventually be overwhelmed and exhausted through sheer numbers, but a properly supported force seems like it would at least require a huge army of elite minions. There is a literal drawback that says you can. And no they wont be worth more than their essence cost because the enemy has things just way better than you in every regard. In the current version the best option is to take giants and spam them out since they don't cost any differently than a human apparently. A giant army might have a chance against the insanely OP stuff the enemy has apparently. There is literally zero reason to double point cost for elites.
>>96090202Something like behemoths cost four fucking points only to be treated like goblins by anything that matters apparently so they're overcosted by fucking miles now. What the fuck
>>96090150>>96090171>>96090179Nearly 3/4 builds took Elitism due to the point cost. I agree that elites are superior to basic units and would rather have one army of elites than five medium armies, but the previous setup limited build diversity and taking into account the new Rabble drawback, I think that's the primary reason MiCha changed it.
Another thing is that not all units increased in cost. The Warpers are unchanged from the previous version. This just brought the other elites up to its relative cost, so now they all cost what they're worth. Besides the increase in point costs, we also got an increase in our own point value, almost doubling it from +15 to +25.
>>96090227>the enemy has things just way better than you in every regardMost of them are not, and those that are are spread across giant continent and much harder to replace than your guys.
All of these problems come form the enemy having way too many soldiers that are more powerful than what the player is able to make. This is not real life where a better soldier would be just someone with more training, equipment, and experience yet still human and able to be killed by a nobody. I feel Micha needs to change that and it will also fix the elite problem.
>>96090227>There is a literal drawback that says you can.The wording of that drawback is ambiguous. It could refer to individual enemies rather than armies of them (hence my comment about the divine dragon eventually being overwhelmed by large numbers).
Regarding the fact that the enemies have access to even better units, that just makes elite minions more vital. You are already at a large disadvantage, so you really need your most important minions to not make it worse.
>>96090149I see? And I'd imagine you can only really get Godhood by Usurper, it's not really possible to gain Godhood by alternative means? And likewise, what's the ballpark estimate for research time and test subjects liquidated to reach that level of understanding?
>>96090259You need the elites to kill the dumb super warriors of the enemy. If they were not real, I would accept this change. But they are a thing, so the elites are needed.
>>96090254If behemoths are equivalent to goblins, then low tier minions are just ants. Going from ants to goblins is a huge improvement and well worth the cost difference.
Instead of all these complaints about elite costs, I would remove the ridiculous One-Man Army trait in order to make hordes more viable.
>>96090259>so now they all cost what they're worthNo now they're incredibly overcosted. The reason people took elitism was because the enemy is extremely overpowered compared to you so nobody cares about shitty low tier troops when your elites are fodder anyways. Fix that shit and revert the elites back
I miss short adventure cyoas
Stuff like Not an adventurer/ Adventure in a new world/ Cosmic horror
>>96090299Variety is not killed by that. It is killed by the adversaries of the cyoa having way stronger minions. As you said, the difference between an ant and a goblin.
>>96090311Don't worry anon you can always make new ones.
>>96090324I don't enjoy playing my own cyoas
>>96090263That's what I gathered from it. I think anons are misreading, the goddesses don't have millions of elite units, they have millions of regular soldiers backed by the standard roster of paladins and good monsters that amount to around 1-in-10, and a few thousand uberelites that take decades, if not centuries of training to replace. I doubt there are more than a handful of beyond-behemoth dragons. To contrast with that you can replace your units in minutes, if you have the resources for them. This lines up with the classic evil overlord trope of the top forces of good being stronger but less numerous than his.
>>96090282The fluff for Rabble clarifies that any enemy, aside from the goddesses, can be cut down through sheer numbers and tactics. It's just vastly easier with elites, which explains why Elitism is +1 while Rabble is +2.
>>96090301I disagree. My first time reading version 1.0, I was very surprised at how cheap elites were for how strong they are. The cost changes make sense, and are reasonable when factoring in that this is the earlier starting point. At the start is the weakest you're ever going to be.
>>96090322Which is a problem the original cyoa had as well.
Increasing both elite costs and the total amount of points you have still keeps elite builds more or less as viable. It mainly buffs builds that include some low tier minions.
>>96090361>Which is a problem the original cyoa had as wellIndeed. That is why I am saying that is what should be fixed. The elite points is whatever once you fix that problem.
>>96088768>it's less bad than the pervious new one I tookBut I thought you liked pervy drawbacks.
>>96090355>It's just vastly easier with elites, which explains why Elitism is +1 while Rabble is +2.Then don't you think it is a design problem that it worked that way? Instead of fixing the problem, the author is fixing the solution that people came up with to deal with the problem.
>>96090355>My first time reading version 1.0, I was very surprised at how cheap elites were for how strong they areNobody thought that but you, there is no reason to increase the price of elites when they already cost more to make. It's just a spit in the face for everyone.
>>96090355Thank you, this is exactly correct.
>>96090275>you can only really get Godhood by UsurperThere are other ways, though they're realistic only long after you're done with Being's mission for you. Usurper is the risky but high reward way to do it more quickly.
>ballpark estimate for research timeI'm bad with these... probably closer to the end of your mission?
>>96090355>a few thousand uberelites>I doubt there are more than a handful of beyond-behemoth dragonsWow that's crazy, they have just as many of those as you have of your minions, but you're are much shittier! Crazy how that works isn't it?
It is always incredible how multiple people can tell an author that they made a mistake and they will ignore it. Yet as soon as a single dickrider comes and tells them they are correct, the author instantly takes it as
>SEE? SEE? I AM RIGHT!
>>96090477I'm definitely not updating to the new version if stuff isn't fixed. Or I might just do the giant abuse version. If elites are overcosted and glorified fodder you may as well just run actual fodder armies of giants for the same cost as other stuff.
>>96090477It will just result in people abusing something different. People will always flow towards the meta.
>>96090364Nah, still doing that. The only basic units I want are Parasite, and Peon. But I figure access to parasite, though kind of cool isn't worth a trait point, and Peons aren't important when I have Animators making other things that can do dumb labor. I could make use of others, but I don't care about them.
>>96090115Greedy Body-Thieving Dark Elf.
>>96090404No, including strong forces of Good in a Fantasy CYOA isn't a design problem any more than including FTL travel in a Sci-Fi CYOA. It's a staple of the genre. I do agree that the text was vague and MiCha should've been more precise so that anons don't think there are millions of paladins against them, but that's not a big problem.
>>96090413They cost more to make because they're superior, but they previously cost the same amount to take as vastly inferior units. Few people would take equally cheap weaker unit over a stronger unit, even if it's possible to have x100 more of them. This caused a serious lack of build diversity, which several other anons noted, and is what MiCha adjusted the CYOA to account for to bring inline with what his vision of what it was. Elites are now more expensive to take, but we have more points to compensate. I do feel for the anons who lost some of their units due to the cost changes, that's unfortunate and could've been handled better, but again, the build is basically which units you'll have access to at the beginning of your conquest. Elites are top of the tech-tree, it makes sense that they cost more.
>>96090437They have as many as you do at the start. If you take into account your ability to hoard essence and scale income by how much land you've conquered, your numbers of Behemoths will be superior if that's what you invest your empire into. More importantly, you are able to replace losses far faster.
>>96090564>>96090477I'm not a dickrider. I was annoyed at the ubiquity of Elitism and apparently, MiCha was too. I do have several reservations about the CYOA, specifically the lack of clarity of Giantkins' cost, like anon mentioned, the loss of the monstergirl gag in the Hybrids race, the loss of the, in my opinion, more evocative ogre Brute and goblin Sapper images, and the imprecise wording that's caused a lot of misinterpretation of the enemy's forces. I'll also admit that I was slightly disappointed that there are only three specializations for the Titan, Tyrant, and Conqueror forms, but that's a minor issue and understandable, considering how difficult these are to create in the first place. Overall, I was impressed by the CYOA and its modularity. Very few CYOAs have managed to do something similar so far.
>>96090564>No, including strong forces of Good in a Fantasy CYOA isn't a design problem any more than including FTL travel in a Sci-Fi CYOA.You are genuinely retarded what are you talking about? The enemies are just way stronger than you at a baseline no matter what.
>but they previously cost the same amount to take as vastly inferior unitsNo they don't, they cost the same to unlock, not the same to make. There was no reason to make them cost more unlock points, literally none aside from wanting to fuck everyone over.
>They have as many as you do at the start. If you take into account your ability to hoard essence and scale income by how much land you've conquered, your numbers of Behemoths will be superior if that's what you invest your empire into. They need to be far superior because apparently the literal titans and praetorians are jobbers. And no, since we have no idea how essence works or how much you actually make or how much anything costs there's no telling if you'll have more, but you probably wont, so it takes your entire fucking roster to rush down one singular enemy entity. Awesome, fuck that retarded shit.
>>96090413I thought so as well
>>96090322Just making the strongest enemies weaker would significantly reduce the challenge of the CYOA (this one is supposed to be a struggle). Maybe something that like the gods being able to send in the uber units after a certain amount of time passes? That way one strategy would be to rush them first with weak monsters.
>>96090477How are they right? All I'm seeing is uncreative people who want a power fantasy getting reminded that this game isn't a power fantasy.
There's many ways to skin a cat. If you can only think of one way, then that's fine. Just don't come to me and say it's the ONLY way.
Micha disappoints most of the general, name something new
>>96090602>Maybe something that like the gods being able to send in the uber units after a certain amount of time passesThat could work too. Or maybe they can only be use for defense? or in certain places? or anything that really does not transform all medium minions into ants. Because that is the problem. The fact that uber enemies make anything other than elite useless. That is why there were so many elite builds before.
>>96088633Imagine your average anon gets transported to an island full of waifus. Imagine all the differnt kinds of girls he'll want to fuck and make his companion and bring into his harem. >>96091034>>96090872Basic and medium units aren't useless, in the same sense that a rifleman, line-cook, or driver aren't useless when nuclear warheads exist. They're the ones holding land, pillaging cities, holding the shieldwall to counter the enemy's own fodder. That's their job, they aren't strong enough to fight the enemy's without overwhelming numbers, but so many Elitism anons think that job doesn't matter because of it. There's an obscene amount of logistics, planning, and work that goes into an invasion aside from the heavy-hitters crashing into each other. The inferior units are the ones putting in that work so that their superiors can do theirs. A balanced warmachine has hundreds of interlocking parts, all feeding into each other for a stronger whole. I like Elitism, but so few of the anons that took it actually streamlined their warmachine to account for gutting 60% of its parts.

I wanted to give a try at making one but I'm stuck on the outlining phase, and that isn't even counting the need to make an image with a software editor, that your vision allows people to have options...
Writing a short story is easier even if it's 10 times the word count.

With the how Isekai Dark Overlord is built you can go for a Tyrant build and win because it's the one with the most unassisted improvement and maybe some other choices from the center column of personal form choices but if you picked a minion focused build like Warlord or anything else on the right column or heck even if you pick anything from the left column those forms don't improve enough to let you win against the generic heroes and you get raid bossed down.

>Share a room with TeresaThis is just for now. Mainly the benefit is resembling my family more, ideally shifting my face to look more like my old one, only a bit more masculine. >>96091433>Princess Katelyn of Verend - ConsortThis is the imprisoned Princess of Verend. I want to crush their spirits. I want to marry their Princess and humiliate their kingdom. I am headcanoning it so that her meek demeanor is just a front - in reality she is similar to her father, angry and 'evil'. In truth it mostly comes off as dorky, as she performatively evil laughs. After I declare that I will marry her is when her facade begins to break. I will put the Binding Band on her, and give her two orders: do not escape, and do not hurt anybody. Then I will free her, an action that hopefully she will appreciate. I will not touch her until she feels affection for me in return. The goal is that hopefully she will be loyal to me personally, realizing her father and her nation do not care if her life is on the line and only seek conquest and bloodshed. Then, their very own princess will be on the battlefield against her using powerful shadow elemental magic.
>RetainersThese are essentially the people I want to sponsor, at my beck and call. I have their loyalty and access to their abilities.
>Zoey, Educator - Retainer 1Though I don't need a caretaker, I would appreciate the extra training she gives me, as well as general knowledge. She is well versed in math, sciences, literature, art, culture, and magic. This means that even if I don't specialize, I have someone on call to answer my questions about this world and give advice in many fields.
>Lewis, Mage Scholar - Retainer 2If anybody deserves to have his research sponsored, it is Lewis. He brought me back to life. I want to see what else he can do, and he's polite as well. I'd like to learn more about magic from him, but above all he can form a link to Earth with me, potentially even connecting me to the internet, which will allow me to revolutionize our kingdom.
I have added an AI generated picture of the princess's unlocked personality.
>>96091450Ahhhh, you're just on the spectrum, got it.
>>96091451Some others in interest who I would love to meet would be Mercy, Fairy Queen, to learn more about the fae. Mercutio the Engineer would be lovely when revolutionizing the kingdom. Sheila the spy seems down to earth and kind, while still being a very capable spy. She would be top on the list if I had a third. Finally once I am closer to Katelyn, Suice, Reaper Witch, could develop her shadow magic further by teaching her the ways of soul magic.
>StudiesI have five classes to take, two of which must be under Theresa. A basic overview is that I will learn spatial magic to fly, and use Crystal Mastery as a main weapon, soaring over enemies and cutting them down with crystals and crystal magic. The bulk of these will be combat related. There are other hobbies I would love to learn, but there will be time for that later. The priority is winning this war and keeping my family safe. That is the purpose I was reincarnated. "It seems I must be a warrior."
>CombatTeresa is powerful and I would like to emulate that. I will learn how to deal with all manner of weapons and 'plow through enemy soldiers', even sending countless people flying with one strike. Though I don't plan for standard weaponry to be the bulk of my combat ability, the raw power this provides is important.
>Crystal MasteryThis is the bulk. There are many uses for Crystals in this world, it is the 'best natural resource' and I would be remiss to not use it. I will elaborate further on what my strategies are, but for imagine swoops down slicing people with crystal great swords, or throwing down elemental crystals from the sky to be a bomber.
>TacticsExpert decision making, management, strategies etc. Important for battle, but also important for the responsibility I'll be taking on. I am excited to meet Alexander, too.
>>96091450The fact that you even said "none of the goddesses grant purification or detox" is laughably retarded though.
>>96091416Holy dickriding
>>96091464>Spatial MagicThe only true magic I am taking, mainly for flight which is described as easy. Beyond that it can teleport, making me not reliant on court wizards to get where I want to be. Resizing things in the manner of Command T is also powerful. But of course spellcasting is limited and only a few quality spells can be cast a day, so primarily it is a flight tool.
>StealthMy only non purely combat skill. I can get into where I want, but most importantly I can hide. This is great since I am so often in the air and attracting attention. I also want to spend time with my big sister Victoria, and she teaches it.
To elaborate a bit as to what Crystals can do:
Before I join the battlefield, I will procure a Crystal Ring which allows double potency and double regeneration on crystals. The core weapon will be Crystal Dagger which expands to Greatsword. This can be extended to impale, and perhaps even twisted around for strange unconventional combat. Swooping down with flight to cut swathes of enemies is the picture. Shield Shards act as shields around me, provided my Crystal Seed I control does not stop them first. The Crystal Spore I can pick out and throw volatile crystals. With double potency that could be massive explosions. It looks to be around ten crystals, and two grow a day. If worst comes to worst I can cast down ten of these bombs in one battle. Warp Crystal gives me great bursts of speed.
The idea is that I can create even more powerful effects with Crystal Magic, and perhaps even grow my own. I would like to be able to grow crystals from below that destroy enemies. Combine the effects of Crystal Spores.
>>96091471>Responsibility - AdventureI need to learn before I participate in combat. Crystal Knights are cool, but I'm not about to jump into leading them. The best way to do this is simply to adventure in my opinion. We will join frays here and there, smaller less dangerous ones, and our hands on training will be in adventuring. I will learn more about the world, more about combat, earn money and crystal artifacts, and form bonds with my retainers. My automaton is with me, and so is my buddy mage Lewis. I'd really like Kate to come too, even if she's all angry about it and doesn't help much. Telling her 'hey this is the only way you're allowed out of the castle' will probably convince her. Maybe there is a moment in which in order to save our lives I decide to trust her and let her free of the Binding Band, and then have to fight her in order to slip it back on. But the trust I showed in her affects her.
>Join the Fight - QuestIt will take a while before I feel ready to do this, but that's what I'm there for right? The Crystal Knights cannot be on every field of battle. That's where I come in. An inspiration to the troops raining hellfire down on the enemies. I cut them down from the front, then bomb the back, causing panic. Teresa is there too of course. This will be a good first battle.
>Defeat the Crystal Overlord - QuestI have no idea how I'll pull this one off. Maybe I can get close to him with magic and use my warp crystal to pull that corrupting crystal out. It's important to me though because I want that dark crystal in order to study it and unlock it's power. Combined with the dark knowledge Kate has, I'm sure we can do something with it. Though she won't be on my side in time to fight him. My automaton will be of use though. Also I can just meet him look at him and then spy on him with the Ribbon, figure out what he does and come up with a plan.
>>96091480>Help Test New Magic - QuestThis has many benefits, one is to meet a new magician who I can learn all about magic from. Second is it's a good cause, right now spellcasting is fairly exhausting and if she can make spells more potent without costing extra energy, that would be a huge development. Thirdly, a nice wife for Lewis who love magic as much as he but is outgoing. Fourth I get some benefits from it. Fifth it's a much chiller sort of Quest and my other ones are difficult and stressful.
I would like to adopt the harpy twins, but I have too many people on my plate right now. I do believe that it is of the upmost important to take back their homeland however, as it will save us a lot of border to defend.
Turn out I get a personal fairy maid too. So my companions right now are a metal titty robot combatant, Lewis the Mage, Katelyn, and her.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
>Year long TimeskipI am a well experienced adventure now, and my companions and I have grown quite strong. The automaton has gained a personality, has been enhanced with magic, and is given the name Android 1. She does not know that this is a Dragonball reference. Katelyn is fond of me now, though it was a difficult journey. At one point she confessed emotionally to me that she realizes how little her nation cares for her. The pain of that conflicts with her supposedly evil and uncaring nature. She asserts that she doesn't care about anybody else truly now and is numb to it all. I assert that I care for her and tell her how fond of her I become, even her eccentric tendencies and evil laughs. This fills her with disgust but I tell her that if she really feels like she has nothing to live for, then cultivate strength. Find adventure. Come on the adventures with me and actually try, you may find it fun.
>>96091488Eventually she does so. It is a slow burn but at some point she volunteers to come to the battlefield, though refuses to fight. Eventually she does fight. I also recruit Dynamo and Sheila, and take Tammy from my sister (with consent and love). The whole party is thus, combatant mage leader Me, tanky battle mage Dynamo, assassin Sheila, mages Lewis and Tammy, reaper witch Katelyn, and Android 1. A party of seven. We don't all always go on a single adventure, but we are a team and when all seven of us are together we make for a powerful force. As it turns out Lewis and Tammy did not get along - but Dynamo and Tammy did. She kept doing experiments on him to try and fix his curse and the two fell for one another. Lewis and Sheila are both fairly reserved and none of us realized for a long time that they were hooking up on the side, and when it finally came out got hyped. Katelyn and I are still technically engaged, but despite her fondness she still refuses to even be hugged. Tammy and Dynamo often prod at her insisting she is in love with me, and I try to stay out of it though I hope it is true.
As for my sibling relationships. I respected Teresa a lot more as time went on, seeing how capable she was especially given everything on her plate. I roll my eyes at her often, but feel a genuine love and appreciation for her. Eventually I moved out of sharing her room, but eventually our relationship turned into that of close friends, and we worked well together on the battle field.
Ironically I ended up being a support system for elder brother Alexander. My death hit him hard and through his cold demeanor it was clear how much I meant to him, and how much relief it gave him that I lived. I made an effort to be close to him after that, and let him know I was always there for him. When speaking of tactics, I see fire in his eyes, and he is proud and excited that I take to it so quickly. Sometimes he brings in Teresa and the two do a joint teaching session.
>>96091498Victoria never outright said I could come to her for anything, but I always got the feeling I could. I had cried to her many times, and her responses never felt fake. She would take me to the gardens and encourage me to breath in the scents, explain to me how each flower grew and what they could do. Somehow this always ended up applying to my issues. And sometimes, there were no issues; I simply missed my Earth family, and in these times she just lay down with me, held me to her, and we chilled until the sadness passed. She tells me that our relationship now is exactly the same as it used to be, in my old body.
I treat Julius like a little brother and try to get him to stop being polite and to roughhouse with me, play games with me. He told me I didn't pay him much attention before I died, and he's a little shocked that I try to spend time with him. He's also excited to have a big brother he can spend time with since Alexander is always so busy. I installed a hoop and try to teach him.
Diana was upset with me for a while, insisting that I drink the sex change potion so she can have a little sister again. I refused, and so she refused to talk to me for a long time. That is until I had to attend a gala. None of the outfits that the assistants picked for me were working, and eventually I banged on her door and begged for her help. She saw that there is something exciting about men's fashion as well as woman's fashion, and that was our bonding. Even if it annoyed me, I let her dress me up whenever I was home. She came to greatly respect my combat prowess too. It's something she was never good at, but she will show up to practice sometimes and cheer me on. Now we laugh about our animosity towards one another at the start. She ruffles my hair often, kisses my cheek, and calls me little sister despite my protests.
>>96091486Should I start posting about Tok instead
Thank god for post chain hiding.
>>96091486You provoked the sperglord, now you must suffer the consequences.
>>96091505Elizabeth was really hard to break. I would bug her every day asking about magic, and she would insist she was busy. I would say hey let me shadow, hey what was our relationship like before I died. She will say "No, I'm busy, and we didn't have one." And ... it is still like that. I haven't broken through yet. Why is Lizzy so stubborn? In the rare occasions that all us siblings are together and having fun, and even Alexander joins in, she will sit in the corner glumly. A few times now I have gone to her and dragged her by the hand to join us. She resists and so Alexander literally scoops her up and forces her. Maybe one day we can connect.
Lineage, in my mind:
Elizabeth, Age 26
Alexander, Age 24
Teresa, Age 22
Victoria, Age 21
Diana, Age 19
Me, Age 17
Julius, Age 14
>Tragedy and VictoryAbout six months in our team had formed, and we took back Salns, installed the twins as 'rulers', and kept the territory under our Kingdom. Slowly we cut through Verend in those next six months until finally we were ready for the final assault. I removed the Binding Band from Katelyn, and told her she had my complete trust, and love even if she doesn't want it. My squad played a crucial role in the battle, and the day was won. When the king and his fellows fled to leave their soldiers to die. It looked like the bloodshed would not end though, as if all their propaganda brainwashed city was going to fight to the last man standing, when the dark shadow who had been fighting alongside our squad revealed herself to be Princess Katelyn, and declared herself the rightful ruler of Verend, deposing the cruel king who left her and her city to die. The people put down their arms and cheered her on. She smiled at me and I felt proud of her. This was a far cry from the megalomaniac borderline sociopath I met in the dungeon. She then let off an awesome display of shadow power that completely depleted her reserves as she laughed maniacally, and I felt happy she wasn't too far changed.
>>96084720>>96084732>>96084736>>96084746>>96084756Wow, look at this. MiCha making a CYOA that has multiple viable choices.
Once again, everyone look at Greedy Body-Thieving Dark Elf.
>>96091519With Elizabeth and Diana's help Katelyn was able to start settling the territory, though it was still undecided what would be done with it. Katelyn proved herself very resourceful, and continued to depict the royals of Eclan as a heroic people who saved her and helped to end the bloody and pointless war. There was still much work to do, but we were in a calm enough situation that the royals could withdraw to our city and stage a celebration for the people. Katelyn refused to come, saying right now she was needed in her homeland. I left all my retainers there to assist her - she has precious few friends, and in such a delicate time she deserves to have them by her side. Of course, during the celebration none of them were there to help when the king and his elite forces attacked. Teresa killed the king once and for all, but she collapsed and was consumed by dark energy before the eyes of all her siblings, the commoners, and the nobles. And not too long after, our father was murdered by our sister, and she was locked away in a crystal.
Diana and Julius were emotional wrecks in the coming weeks. They fell into harsh conflict with Elizabeth, who showed no grief and pragmatically took care of all that needed to be taken care of. Alexander understood his older sister better than anybody else, and silenced the while shedding tears. I know they spoke in private, and I hope she was able to confide her true feelings in him. Victoria isolated herself, but I forced my way through and saw her cry for the first time. As for myself, I only had hazy memories of my time with her prior to my death, but after my revival she was my rock. I felt hollow and like a failure. Katelyn didn't come.
>>96091524No, I post it for my own satisfaction, to make it feel like I did not waste hours of my life.
>>96091532>FuneralI dressed Optimistically. Diana and Julius, our two faces of hope, were in no state to inspire anybody. It was difficult, but it was important to display hope, so I took the charge with bright accents. I knew this was a dangerous situation. The kingdom was in an uproar, their beloved princess and their brave king dead, and they wanted blood. But the war was over, and they needed someone to help calm them. Elizabeth was set to give a eulogy, but thirty seconds in her voice started cracking and she faltered. I held her hand and then took over. I asserted that I had returned from death, and we would do all we could to restore the Princess Teresa as well. Furthermore, we made it clear - the blood of our father was strong, his children were strong, and the kingdom would survive.
>Save and Crown TeresaThe votes are anonymous for who ascends the throne, but I will write them out here. Elizabeth voted for me, surprisingly. Alexander voted for himself, not wanting the job but seeking to shoulder the burden for his family. Victoria voted for me. Diana and Julian both voted for Elizabeth. These votes were all drawn from a hat. Mine was the last, and it read Teresa. The room was silent, just us six within. Elizabeth spoke crisply "What does that mean? She is gone." I spoke up and said it was me, insisting that my words were not empty and we WILL find a way to bring her back. Teresa was brave, charismatic, intelligent, and loved. The perfect leader. For now, I suggested a council. Elizabeth countered that pragmatically councils would not work, a decisive leader is needed. Alexander broke his silence and said "We are not a council of strangers." We agreed that we could trust one another, as siblings with deep love for one another and trust in one another, to lead by council until Teresa was restored.
>>96091532based effortposter, fuck all the whinefag leeches.
>>96091442Not everything is dnd, nor should it be the standard by which everything else is judged. The only suggestion of healing power in the cyoa is in the form of self sacrifice, and thus would come at a far more considerable cost than healing does in dnd. I'm not saying there is no ability by the forces of the goddesses to heal poison, just that doing isn't even mentioned, and thus the ability isn't suggested to be a significant concern. You guys are suggesting that poison is useless, based on things you made up, and aren't even suggested in the cyoa.
>>96091514I didn't provoke him.
>>96091547Victoria suggested that I be the tiebreaker, if the vote was tied up on an issue. I expected protest, but the others readily agreed. Special rings were forged to symbolize our places on the council, and father's old crown was suspended within crystal on the throne, waiting for Teresa.
Done. We can retcon the last 2 and a half posts however, because I did not realize that there was an option to forgo having the king and princess die, and instead get crystal powers.
>>96091548lols I'm sure it is very obnoxious but had to be done. I'm finished now.
>>96091550By that token you are expecting poison to be the end-all-be-all despite there obviously being healing magic, which would include detox, and also thinking shitty poison is going to do anything meaningful to higher tier enemies that will just wipe your swarmers effortlessly.
Softie has been absent for a while now. Perhaps he got scared?
>>96091585he literally posted in this thread are you retarded
>>96087418How would a Weaponmaster/Nemesis fare in personal combat vs a Titan or Shadow Reaper? I just want to know which Form option has the most personal martial strength.
>>96091560I didn't say it's the be all end all. I said they aren't useless. If healing is in the form of self sacrifice, all that changes is who the poison hurts and their rate of attrition. Besides the entire point of swarmers is in having more than the enemy can attack. They are cheap and potentially free.
>>96091630doesn't matter if you lose territory and can't make enough of them because an enemy elite annihilates you
Even though DND is not the everything, MiCha's other stuff have used systems heavily inspired by DND (Fantasy friends) and Final Fantasy (Isekai Bounty Hunter) and the whole thing is called Isekai and the magic systems of Isekai tend to be some MMO DND FF mishmash.
Also, the Hierophant form is said to be the opposite of the heroes' clerics. Hierophant curses, so Clerics must bless. Hmmm I wonder if you can bless people with POISON AND DISEASE RESISTANCE.

>>96091750No way, he is... based?! LIAR!
>>96091735Yeah, pretty much. And unless your base is amazing to the point it matters against the gods the CYOA favors power over skill.
>>96091690Swarmers are drones, something that has proven to be quite effective against tanks. You just need to give them a weapon that can cause damage. Like an explosive, which is also an option. Swarmers are small, fast moving, and hard to hit. They are the perfect weapons delivery platform. You're looking at fleets of aircraft, and thinking they'll be useless against battleships.
>>96091788>anon is using the jobber unit among jobbers>when your elites are already only slightly better jobbers>and thinking swarmers of all the units will win against things like dragons that take behemoths 10-1 or enemies that can beat his elites like chaffThe stupidity of some anons never ceases to astound me but god damn you are the dumbest anon here for sure.
>>96091788Except a drone is not a goblin. Your comparison sucks and just proves it is nothing but a cope.
>>96089864Its what real OC leeching looks like.
The funniest part is that if anon picked Reaper as Overlord form then poison would have a chance.
>>96091824Swarmers aren't suggested to be goblins, those are under fodder. Swarmers are suggested to be small, fast, and to combo well with the ability to fly. There is no reason that Swarmer Automatons can't literally be drones.
>>96087418Does Monstrous Menagerie necessarily have to make units look ugly? Can they still be shaped to be appealing to other humans?
>>96091523>Greedy Body-Thieving Dark Elf.What about him?
>>96091860As I read it, they don't have to be obviously ugly, just obviously inhuman.
If you don't personally care about the 'style' of your empire being approximately normal, there's not really much of a downside, since you can bypass that for appropriate 'infiltrator' units anyway.
>>96091922The Dark Elf is also a booty thief.
>>96091860Like
>>96091941 says, it seems like you just have to make your minions obvious, not that they have to be unappealing. Having to be actually ugly seems to be part of Outsider. So Monstrous Menagerie isn't much of a problem for any build that isn't trying to take part of civilization. Not that viable for me as I plan to get started by selling things made by artisans/alchemists and operate brothels staffed by concubines, before I begin on the true path of evil, banking.
>>96091922He was forced to take bad drawbacks in a hypothetical MiCha CYOA and then MiCha turned around to nerf Isekai Dark Overlord to practically force you into drawbacks.
>>96087418How much time do we have?
>>96092063There is no apparent or suggested time limit, outside of a drawback that sets a limit of a thousand years.
>>96092120NTA but it's not hard to understand.
>>96092063You have a vaguely distant point in the future when the Being will blow up the planet
So now that the isekai overlord update was a total blunder what are we looking forward too now?
>>96091860best be careful you dont attract nothing but the fetishists to your empire, although, considering how many furries are in the it business, maybe you should promote specifically to fetishists
>>96092173What if I offer one free state-mandated wife to subvert their cultures and cement my rule sweeten the deal?
>>96092169Cultivation Cataclysm update? Maybe something from Italics, though I always seem to bounce off his cyoas there does seem to consistently be people looking forwards to whatever he is up to.
>>96092209>Cultivation Cataclysm update? It might take a while, sorry. I've ben busy.
>>96092229Well, cultivators by their nature should be patient, so it shouldn't be a problem.
>>96087418What's the point of emperor over something like strategist
>>96092229Rake my beloved...
>>96092169Whatever husanon is doing
>>96092247It's military vs economy. Strategist is better at warfare, but Emperor is better at getting resources to use in warfare.
>>96092278I don't see how its better at that. Also warfare is the entire point of the cyoa so whats the point of emperor.
Micha became italics and ea
>>96092302Most armies rely on a static state to keep supplied and reinforced. Emperor doesn't do anything for your troops besides motivating them, but means that any state you make will be prosperous and have more resources to tax and soldiers to recruit. The choice between Warlord, Strategist, and Emperor is basically whether you want to be Richard the Lionheart, Napoleon, or Bismarck.
>>96092403>but means that any state you make will be prosperous and have more resources to tax and soldiers to recruit. How, it doesnt increase unit production or magically give more de or anything. How does it affect that over strategist.
>>96092448It increases the land's value. More urban regions give more essence, the richer the better, and Emperor can manage larger, more prosperous cities. Or if the minions are nature-loving and can breed, it can maintain a better garden too. Emperor is the least violent of all the non-Deceiver specialties and is niche, but it's still strong.
>>96092485It doesn't do any of that though. Unless I missed an update urban regions don't give more and your cities and whatever are already as prosperous as any other dark lords dueto total minion loyalty, not to mention that stuff like gold doesn't really matter as dark lord beyond some niche uses. It doesn't seem to do anything useful to your campaign beyond minions knowing your intents, meaning they can never fuck up orders beyond incompetence.
>>96092501 (You)
I went back and looked and land quality affecting DE is exteemely vague and focuses on enemy territory. Regardless, emperor doesn't do anything for land quality.
>>96092507>extremely vagueThis cyoa in a nutshell
>>96092528Honestly I don't care if emperor is just worse than the other options, I don't even care if its vague. I just hope the main issues get fixed because I am not enjoying building this right now.
>>96092302>>96092247nta
emperor is kind of like deceiver or shadow with the big difference being that you don't have to do these while hiding but right in the open, after all as long as long as you don't take the no mercy drawback there should be no reason to kill or destroy entire kingdoms
the way I see it this is the 'pacifist route' where you win over the people with your charms to stop worshipping the goddesses and join your side because to be fair, from what we know they are kind of shitty at their job
honestly if you get industrialize + the crafting minions you could show the world what kind of wonders the goddesses are keeping for themselves and have a higher chance of winning in this path
>>96092501Monument Builder mentions that land values scales to how heavily settled it is. Apart from that, I think Emperor feeding into land value makes a lot of sense. Which is the richer region: thriving farmland with well-managed mines, lumberyards, and towns orbiting a bustling citadel that praises your superior rule, or overgrown wilderness full of scattered shantytowns and a haphazard, half-functioning city, desperate to return to the goddesses? While any Overlord could have decent society management no matter their specialty, the Emperor has excellent society management by default, and-
>Your words carry your will, enhancing commands and empowering other abilities-could be shouting out the names of his attacks for bonuses.
>>96092571You're unironically better off use the 1 cost perk to go conqueror and charismatic at that point. Which is something I considered if I didn't already hate the drawbacks I have to take. Wish that perk gave you an extra specialization for emperor/strategist or emperor/charismatic.
I still believe micha will turn it around and make it good! Non-believers will lose
>>96092616it still costs an extra point, and while manipulator seems better suited for getting people to your side, emperor deals a lot more with the logistics of your allies not starving, outfitting them with good armor/weapons, making an actually functional kingdoms with good laws, etc
after bringing this to my attention I am actually very tempted to change my destructionist build for an emperor one
>>96087418As is Chosen is terribly overpriced. 3 perk points is not worth a single unit, even for a unit with hald the strength of an Overlord. Interdisplinary is only 1, and even then that one is a bit of a meh choice, and it has the advantage of providing compression of multiple capabilities on a single platform rather than spreading them out.
Additionally, Nest seems to say Servant instead of Peon or Worker now, so that means that things like auxiliary recruits or <Artisans> can work to tend them?
>>96091398>How do we determine what future we get?Player choice. In the original Royal Revival, many players complained that their build wouldn't lead to Teresa getting imprisoned (etc). So Beri wrote a second path, so that players can choose the one that makes more sense for their build.
(Teresa either goes evil overlord or conduit, not both.)
>>96092755Don't worry. He is sure to do nothing about it
Wow, I thought that was the new one but it wasn't. Whatever. Good news, everyone. It's done. It's finished. Get in, Loser. We're Going to Space! 2.0 will post with the new thread, or shortly thereafter!
>>96090364I can't afford not to.
I'm not taking those other crippling drawbacks are you insane.
>>96090724No. Then you will takes elites only just like are doing anyways.
>>96090556>Greedy Body-Thieving Dark Elf.What makes you think he isn't having the time of his life. He's pretty much an unstoppable force of chaos and mischief, which seems to be what the player was going for.
>>96092235not in this cyoa, in this cyoa they need to be insightful
>>96094545>he thinks insights will come to those who are impatient
