Stats say otherwise, read the book "History of Electrification in Bulgaria" to get an idea of how quickly Bulgaria's power infrastructure was built up from the late 1940's to the 1960's without this dogmatic ideology bullshit. Rural electrification was nil during the royal period, but by 1970 99.6% of Bulgarians had electricity in their homes.

Then read "Past, present and future status of electricity in Turkey and the share of energy sources" to see how shitty Turkey's power situation was during the second half of the 20th century. Only 23% of the Turkish population used electricity during the 1950's (entirely confined to urban centers), while by the 1970's, only 7% of Turkish villages were electrified. The situation wasn't even comparable to Bulgaria, which had such a massive surplus of power from hydroelectric and nuclear generation that it exported it to every neighboring country.
