It's more the tone of the show. The whole show looks and feels like a crime thriller directed by david fincher, I guess leave it to puritanian americans to make a show about teen sex look and feel like a show about serial killers.

I've seen documentaries about herion addicts that were more upbeat than this show.

Not that I got all that much laid as a teenager and the heaviest drug usage I did was weed, but I seem to remember it as fun and exciting.

Besides, the brits made the superior show 15 years ago.
