It really was just this. Both windows at my grandparents' place were showing me identical sights of the house over the street when logically they should have been showing different parts of the house. I was five or six years old so I was cognizant enough to realize what I was seeing didn't make sense but dumb enough that I couldn't explain my puzzlement to anyone. This happened several times I visited, then at some point it stopped and I could never see it like that again.
