Gnomes are literally and unironically real. They are likely some kind of demonic trickster creatures. Hard to tell for sure.

Fairies are real. Not really sure what they are but you can feel them for real if you stay in the woods long enough.

Skinwalkers are real and dangerous. If you smell roses and a metalic smell, and all the bugs stop making noises all at once in the woods, make a fire as quickly as possible and say "I HAVE A RIGHT TO BE HERE" and "IT'S OKAY FOR ME TO BE HERE". They don't like being stood up to.

It is possible to 'slip' out of existence when you are in the woods, far from civilization. I suspect that there are moving pockets of weak dementional barriers that people can fall through. Sometimes people are able to cross over and then return. You'll hear stories about such cases where people report going somewhere and everything is very still and there is a specific color cast or smell to everything, like they are in another time or place, before they snap out of it back to reality. This might be what happens to some people featured on missing 411, but impossible to tell for sure.

They are just at a higher plane of existence than humans are. I guess it's always possible that sometimes they do it on purpose, or MAYBE sometimes it's an accident. They aren't infallible, but making human-like mistakes like being caught on camera seems really unlikely. It would be like if you accidentally got captured on camera by a truck transporting the hubble telescope surrounded by flashing light warning vehicles. Magical creatures are in general just much more in-tune with the universe around them than humans are. The physical reality that we know is only a very small part of their existence, and the short answer is that they would simply not be caught on camera.

I wish I could be an ancient tribal man living under the sea of stars thinking every unexplained phenomenon was the wrath of some angry spirit or local god, spending days innawoods in a world largely untouched by man. My imagination would be so active and vivid.

The first time I experienced sleep paralysis a demon showed up but I believed it was responsible for what was happening to me and I felt so much hate and rage at it that it fled.

I have had sleep paralysis several times since, but have not been visited by any entities, and simply waited patiently until I woke up properly.

Recently had a dream where I had somewhere to be and I tried to walk but couldn't. Grabbed a nearby rope to pull myself forward but wouldn't move. Suddenly woke up and realized, I couldn't move because I literally wasn't moving. If I had just dreamed I was in my room I would've thought I was awake the entire time.

When I was a kid I saw a glowing red symbol on my bedroom wall. It looked like an eye with a sun cross inside of it. It pulsed brightly, and with each pulse I felt my bed shake. I know it wasn't sleep paralysis because I was making the conscious decision not to move, out of fear, until I got the courage to bolt out of my room. I also recall holding the blankets tightly, so I couldn't have been paralyzed . I got my parents, but by then the symbol was gone. Nothing strange ever happened to me after that, really.
There was also a time some jeep was following my family's car until we got home, where it turned around, but that's not strange just creepy.

Now, something interesting about this that another anon pointed out, partially as a joke, is that there was actually a Calvin And Hobbes strip where something very similar to this happened. I started reading Calvin And Hobbes the year the 10-year anniversary collection came out, which I think *was* in 2006, but this event preceded that, and I was able to have the film noire incident as a relatively recent memory when I read it and be like 'what the hell? this is a funny creative comic doing this for a punchline, but this actually happened to me'.
