Reading is something I still do on a Palm Pilot. The fucking thing just won't die. iSilo reading app will do most formats and it fits in any pocket. It has backlighting that just illuminates the text so the battery lasts a long time. True, it won't connect to the internet, or even home network. I have a cradle I put it into that connects through USB and I essentially side-load books onto it.
