It's a symptom of both shitty Japanese knowledge and shitty English knowledge that gets worse each passing day as one translator uses someone else's shitty translation as a reference and produces even more vile slop than the first.
No one has standards and everyone is a speed watcher who just wants the subs as fast as possible so they can slurp one slop before moving onto the next trough just as quickly.
