Ok, I guess I misunderstood what you meant by >>96018888, assuming that was you. As for industry standard, Overwatch is apparently harder to find direct Blizzard sources for, the only thing I can find straight from them is https://overwatch.blizzard.com/en-us/news/23910161/ where they state they're removing ranked decay.

Seems to contradict what they say here, where they specify it's LP decay https://support-leagueoflegends.riotgames.com/hc/en-us/articles/4405783687443-Placements-Promotions-Series-Demotions-and-Decay
Also contradicts the rest of the article itself under the "return to ranked" section, where they talk about changes to decay rate and ranks like plat and silver. Could be a case of devs conflating the two terms.
