there's plenty of room, anon. strips are just for convenience when painting. they're not a rule.
strip infantry are normally only about 7 or 8mm deep so you end up with a decently large buffer. lots of strips are broken up in to 2s and 3s, and there are millions of options for single figures too. with infantry that dont have wide poses you can get up to 7 wide and three deep. you have the option to make bases as disorganized and sparse or crowded as you like. how did you think anons who have mounted officers among the infantry or little dioramas on the lead stand of a unit were doing it?
