Northern Journey is literally just photos of nature pasted onto low poly models and then spammed all over Unreal Engine landscapes and hand painted with vertex colors, then layered with colored fog. There is zero real time lighting, the entire game is fully unlit and all shadows are just painted on.
Today's game tools empower devs to do amazing things, people are just too lazy or uncreative to use them.
I would like to see more games that revert to just using simple texture art and polygonal models to make games and less PBR normal mapped shit with real time lighting.
