It's essentially thanks to STEAM and its well made tag-system that Indy games have a chance to reach their target public.
Thanks to it I've played niches games, I would otherwise never have learned about, even from another fans.

I'm annoyed they basically took control of PC gaming and could do all sort of horrible shit with it.
So far they are NOT overusing that advantage or even trying to take down their opponent.
Even the supposedly "evil 30% tax" is a fair market price to have your games constantly advertised to the same level as other AAA game. and unlike EPIC, Steam don't even forbid the developers from still selling their game through their own means.

Hell, I've bought Rimworld and other games OUTSIDE of steam and was allowed to have them recognized for free as Steam games.
So that basically Steam sending me automatic update for FREE.
