well it's not that strange, many rally drivers have done things in other disciplines; the most recent Rovanperä who participated in a Drift championship I think and other things on circuits.
I would say it's a round trip. Right now we have Jos Verstappen participating in european rallies and Kovalainen in Japan, last year there were rumors about Bottas' possible participation but I don't know what happened
