I play Texas hold em all the time, but rarely in a casino. I live about 4-5 hours away from Vegas and only an hour and a half from Wendover. Why would I drive all the way there when there are underground card rooms and clubs in the city that I live, and it only takes me 15-30 mins to drive to one. Not to mention the gambling addicts/fish are drawn to these locales due to a lack of funds so they’re easy prey.

I’ve played plenty of cards at a casino:

>drive or fly a long distance
>pay top dollar for a shitty hotel that is still cheaper than the extremely bloated casino resorts
>arrive at poker room
>wait is 1-2 hours to get a seat
>everyone there is a sweaty MF with $500 big blinds in front of them at a 1/3 or 2/5 table
>can’t smoke at the table
>rake is insane or they charge you by the hour to play, usually around $10-20 an hour but I’ve seen higher
>dealer changes so often that any auspiciousness gained is instantly lost

That last one is a bit of a superstition, but beyond that the experience is just not worth it, especially when compared to underground clubs:

>receive notice from contacts that seats are open at x, y, or z game, along with all requisite info on the game in question
>get to know players and how they play over the course of many sessions
>drive 15 mins
>walk-in
>hot dealer
>free drinks and food served throughout the night
>rake is reasonable
>can smoke at the table, along with partaking in any drug of your choosing
>play for a few hours
>take $500 off the guy who buys in $100 at a time 10 times in a row
>make my exit after a couple hours
>do this once or twice a week for extra income

Oh and I can also play online and make a side hustle out of that too. Picrel.
