That is art from the western Catholics iirc and not an actual icon of the Church. Icons simply aren't art pieces but in Christian theology a "window into heaven" so to speak, it has to actually represent the theology of the church at least in Eastern Orthodoxy. I'll admit I am unaware of how Catholics do their iconography, but in Orthodoxy the only things that you can depict God with is what you could actually see, to say Christ can not be depicted would in some ways be a denial of the incarnation.
An icon in Orthodoxy would have a similar aesthetic to picrel.
