Forest is planning two turns ahead to set up lethal. Sometimes you have to make the choice between ditching some combo pieces to survive versus holding them, and sometimes the correct play is to literally skip turns if you know you can live and combo them down the next turn no matter what they play.

Forest was my most played class in SV1 so I just go completely used to the playstyle.
