I wonder if she actually looked like 8nobu at 8 minus the fangs and pointed ears.

You can rest assured that they will never make major changes to appease the "west". The only reason they did this with some videogames is because the western AAA companies fooled everyone into thinking they were the center of the world. With anime though, especially otaku stuff, the full product line is something contained in Japan that will likely not make it out of Japan for a long time. As in, they have to appeal to their own based because that is that base that also purchases all the tie ins that truly make things profitable. Stuff like figures, all those random promos, the manga the anime advertises etc. Not to mention that it is a lot more affordable for more niche studios to push out their stuff only in the home market.
Stuff like "Loli-chan really really likes to take baths" won't be changed unless they happen to get paired with a shitty studio who is overly cautious. What you might actually see changing is perhaps stuff like the huge battle shonen. Those things have their product lines internationally and thus may simply opt to appeal to the bigger audience. Then again though, the guys behind it know that the Japanese elements are part of the success. There is also vested interests in the Japanese government and other groups to keep the export of their culture flowing. Not to mention that the west is pretty rapidly rejecting the shitty stuff.
tldr: The anime industry is in a safer place than videogames. The most you might see is occasionally a "west" pandering mass appeal show.
